Tipsy!

Who loves wine? I absolutely love it berry much!

Thanks to Decanter for host this special event ‘Chalk Hill Wine Tasting’ few months ago. I was invited and surely wouldn’t miss it.

It was one lovely sunny Saturday, I and my fellow foodies, DanielJennyDino and Natasha, gathered for a sip of Australian wine. Chalk Hill was introduced by Jock Harvey, the wine maker. It is a family-owned wine company located in McLaren Vale vineyard in Adelaide, South Australia.

To be honest, I know nothing about wine. Been taught several times, still have no idea. I guess my mind won’t digest the knowledge, only consume the wine. Once again, here I was attending the wine tasting and Quick-Wine-101.

We were served with 2 collections from Brewery Hill, 2 collections from Alpha Crucis and 4 collections from Chalk Hill. Here’s the brief explanation from each wine.

  1. Chalk Hill Moscato – 2011 It’s a very young fresh wine. It’s very light with a little bit natural sweetness from the fruits. Perfectly match with dessert or as a cocktail. However, it didn’t fit me well. Too sweet for my taste bud.
  2. Brewery Hill Shiraz – 2010 It’s from South Eastern Australia. The taste not that strong yet you’ll sense a strong spiced fruity flavor.
  3. Chalk Hill Sidetrack – 2009 It’s a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Grenache. It’s very easy to drink it alone or pairing with pizza or omelet.
  4. Chalk Hill Cabernet Sauvignon – 2009 Feminine sense and have a touch of French flavor.
  5. Chalk Hill Shiraz – 2009 Strong in front, smooth in the end. Give a smooth and nice aftertaste. It’s perfectly match with lamb.
  6. Brewery Hill Chardonnay – 2010 Strong in citrus flavor. It’s for an easy-drinking wine. Don’t over chill, so you still able to taste the real flavor
  7. Alpha Crucis Shiraz and Alpha Crucis Cabernet Sauvignon - 2008 Two types of elegant wine. Extremely beautiful!

Oh, all the details I got from Jock Harvey’s explanation on that day and my own perception after I tasted it. Note that am not an expertise, okay?

I myself love all of the wines above, but as I went further more I ended up loves the last one best. Price doesn’t lie! Haha..  My favorites are Brewery Hill Chardonnay, Chalk Hill Cabernet Sauvignon and Both Alpha Crucis.

A little tip, do enjoyed it with a slice of baguette and butter to reduce the strong flavor of each wine.

We ended up with little tipsy and barely able to draw ourselves up. It was a great wine experience and accompanied with great folks. Thank you Decanter and Chalk Hill! Let’s have a toast!

Oh, if you want to have a glass, do stop by to Decanter. It’s recommended!
