Dill Gourmet
One of my favorite Catering Services, Culture Royale, just opened their Gourmet Cafe, named Dill. They offers small light bites, from sandwiches, bentos, pizzas and dessert selections. The sandwich is not your typical one. It’s more into Subway style. (Oh, how I miss Subway!) This time I tried the BBQ Beef Cabernet Sandwich. I love the bread they used, it’s crispy on the outside, very...

Eastern and Oriental
You might have noticed, I’m quite a fan of Will Meyrick’s cooking style and his masterpiece. Thankfully, no need to go far to Bali as He just opened his third restaurant here in Jakarta. Eastern and Oriental, mainly focused on Thai cuisine with a bit of Vietnamese, is a collaboration between Will Meyrick and the famous Loewy-Union group. With the same philosophy, Will brings the...

Another Canteen Experience
This Canteen will never bore me. This time I tried the Nicoise Salad, Apple Walnut Salad and Chorizo Papardelle. The Nicoise salad, unfortunately they take out the tuna and used smoked salmon. It’s bit lame as its supposed to be with tuna. Luckily, it’s still enjoyable with the mix of flavor from the aragula and salty smoked salmon. On the other hand, the Apple Walnut Salad was a...

Cinco de Mayo!
It’s the month of May and let’s celebrate in Mexican way! It’s quite hard to find good old tacos, burritos or nachos here in Jakarta. The last time I enjoyed it was back then in Melbourne. There’s a small shop that sells burritos, nachos and tacos, it’s called BBNT. It’s one enjoyable lovely snack-shop. I was craving for it and finally, last year,...

Sweet tooth heaven
Let’s give a break from some heavy courses and have a (not so) light satisfying meal. Dessert is the usually sweet course that concludes a meal. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it on its own. Here’s my recommendation for you dessert person: Triple Chocolate Melt Never go wrong with chocolate and this one surely couldn’t be missed. From white, milk until...

Common People Eatery
Last December, there’s this new Eatery and Bar just open its door. Located in the fussy area in Kemang, where Common People gather to have a meal or glass of cocktail. The sophisticated mix of modern-rustic interior with bricks, designer-inspired chairs, colonial table and buttoned sofa window-seated, build up a great atmosphere to chill around. While the food is mainly focused on Western...

La Creperie
It’s not easy to find Creperie here in Jakarta. Back then there was a famous Creperie named Praline. Apparently it’s shut down and I lost my favorite one. The past few years, the trend is back. There’s one (another famous) restaurant open and serves all things about galette and crepes. Not really fit in to my preferences. And just around a month ago, a new Creperie jump in to...

Sarong, am in love!
Do you still remember my post about Sarong Inspirations? Finally, I have the chance to experience it. Last November when I went to Bali, Sarong was already on top of my list. It’s a BIG NO NO to miss it (again). Stupid me, I didn’t make a reservation earlier on that day and when I arrived at Sarong, which around 7.30pm, it’s already fully booked and the waiting list keeps going...

Eat, Drink and Donate
Every Jakarta Culinary Festival usually closed with a special Chef Degustation Dinner. This year theme was ‘Eat, Drink and Donate’. JCF partnering with few foundations, such as ‘Drive Books, Not Cars’, ‘Sahabat Anak’ and ‘Taman Bacaan Pelangi’, gather this dinner to help raised money to support unfortunate children on their education. The Dinner...

Sarong Inspirations
The first time I met Will was back then in 2010. He cooked at the Jakarta Culinary Festival event hosted by Ismaya. I attended his cooking demos and wine pairing class (and continually attended whenever he cooked on an event). One thing that captured my heart was his love towards asian cuisine. I was amazed and stunned. He is a very passionate chef. When it comes to food especially asian,...

Cape Discovery
Here in Indonesia, people are getting more intense with wine. Wine is now become one of the most looking forward beverages. To accommodate the market, Cape Discovery was born somewhere around late last year – early this year. Cape Discovery provides a great tasty wine with a very reasonable price. They use grapes from the Margaret River in Australia transported it to Singaraja, Bali for the...

When I attend the wine class at the JCF, we were informed with basic info. Here it is! Choose the perfect glass for each wine. White wine – White wine Glass, narrow space keep the temperature longer, so it’s stay cold. Red wine – Red wine Glass, wider space keep the temperature at warm level. Great wine with Great Food. Beatrice Quarters
There’s one little spot that captured my eyes. It’s Beatrice Quarters. It brings you to have a glimpse of Parisian café with all the vintage chairs. The place quite small and hardly moves around when it’s packed. I ordered a pot of hot tea. They used TWG and also gave some cookies for the light bite. All of the menus they’re offering were pretty much appealing to me, but then I decided to try...

A Moment to remember..
Another Café Hoping and I decided to try Momento. It’s quite new around the block. I love the interior with white bricks, nice design tiles, fireplace-look-a-like and chandelier. The resto operating hours seems to be from 5pm-midnite, as I’ve been there at 3pm and it’s still closed. It’s a two floor café and bar and also they have quite huge open space in front. Starting from 10pm, there will be...

Ramen War!
Within the past few months, the ramen war is getting stronger and competitive. Wherever you go, it seems that you’ll find new restaurants that sell Ramen. Here in PIK, there’s new hype called Ikkudo Ichi. As for me, this is one of the best Ramen in town (besides Kira Kira Ginza’s)! I basically not really a fan of noodle, especially the one that very fatty and oily, but this Ikkudo did a great job...

Pork and Wine Dinner
Many of you must have heard about Vin+. Yes, that’s classic-rustic-looks wine boutique. I’ve never been there before. Passed by couple of times, but haven’t got a chance to pay a visit. Then, few weeks ago, my friend Erza on behalf of Vin+ invited me and fellow foodie for a ‘Pork Belly and Wine’ dinner night. It was my first time there. I love the rustic interior,...

That Famous Chicken Wing!
Finally, I tried that Famous Chicken Wing! It’s 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken!  Wonder why they called it 4 Fingers? It’s because you’ll only need to use both of your index finger and thumb. Yes only 4 fingers! HA! I tried the Soy Garlic sauce as it is their signature one. I love the skin. It’s crispy! And the best of all, it’s very tasty. You can taste some sweet,...

Umaku
The last past few months, you might hear people talked about this little Japanese restaurant called Umaku. They have three branches and one of them in Alam Sutera, Tangerang. The other day, I went there with my fellow foodie. We tried some of their signature dishes. Yakimeshi - the salmon fried rice. They used small bites of salmon, egg, crunchy carrot and drizzled with shredded nori. The rice...

Phenomenal, Extravagant, Mindblowing!
You might wonder why I use that title for this post. It’s simply the experience I had when I dined in Otel Lobby. First time, it was phenomenal. It’s like love at the first sight. Second time, indeed, extravagant. Those scrumptious dishes weren’t only in the past experience, yet still continuously amaze me. Third time, I had the Kitchen Table experience and it was mind-blowing. It...

Tin Pan Alley
Tin Pan Alley, that little touch of American Alley in Jakarta. This was my second time there. I went to have lunch with my friend. We ordered all time favorite Chili Wedges, Pork Chop with Homemade Cranberry Sauce, Barramundi Papaya Mango Salsa and Apple Crumble Pie. Nice golden brown wedges drizzled with melted cheese and minced beef. Couldn’t ask for more.  I had a love-hate...

Delightful Late Lunch
The other day, I went to Otel Lobby for a late lunch with my friend. It’s my second time visit and they proved it, they did take my heart away. I ordered Prawn Tempura. It consists of two huge battered deep fried prawn with Pineapple Sorbet and Braised Pineapple. Who would have thought that prawn and sorbet could make a lovely combination? The prawn was so juicy and the meat was very thick....
